When a man acts like a 'man' and a woman acts like a 'woman' in public that usually means the man is the 'gent' and the woman is the 'lady'.

This is NOT a matter of making women out to be 'better' or 'Princesses' for frick's sake! This is about mutual respect of the masculine and feminine.

How so, you ask?

Well, for one thing, my husband feels degraded and embarrassed if I open my own doors for myself without even allowing him a chance to open them for me (so weird). I've always been very cocky, walk fast, open my own doors and I'm terribly impatient which is something I had to learn to allow my man to feel 'manly' by being the one to open doors for me and such in public places. It's a mutual give and take. I've always swung my own door out and escaped the vehicle to run to my destination which drives my husband UP-THE-FUCKING-WALL. lol

Anyway, something I've learned about 'chivalry' is that men (at least in public) prefer to be 'manly' and that's fine by me and I've realized that my husband needs that and that I shouldn't just rush ahead of him into the great wide yonder apace.

In other words, it's a mutual respect for a man to be chivalrous and genteel and a woman to be lady-like and reciprocative of the man's 'show' of 'virility' and strength.

Did I make ANY sense?
