Environmental rehabilitation through the enhancement of integrated solid waste management.

Summary of Issues Raised:
The complainant alleges that UNDP is constructing a solid waste management facility on land contrary to local law, without the proper permits, and in a location that would have negative environmental impacts. The complainant further alleges economic harms will result to him, his family, and his workers when the new plant is operational.
UNDP Response:
UNDP faciliated a series of dialogues between stakeholders, including the Requester, representatives of the Municipality where the project was proposed, and the UNDP project staff. Unable to find a mutually agreeable solution, UNDP has suspended project activities in this location until an agreement is found.
