Your Organization includes a guided tour of UNDP and examples of what we do, the conditions of service for UNDP personnel, and key documents from both UNDP and the UN to give the organizational context of your position.
Now that you are working with UNDP, what kind of organization have you become a part of? "UNDP's One Day on Earth" gives you a glimpse of what we do. It is an 8-minute film made up of images taken by UNDP personnel across the globe on a single day - available in English, French, and Spanish:
An overview of what UNDP does is available on our website at undp.org .
For a more in-depth understanding of your organization we invite you to take the guided tour "Welcome to UNDP". The presentation consists of five lessons, each of which take from 10 to 20 minutes to complete. Each lesson can be accessed from the Course Map, and the chapters contained within the lessons can be chosen separately, meaning that the tour can be be completed in as many viewings as is convenient.
The document titled "UNDP for Beginners" will help you memorize key information that was presented in the tour - it is available in English, French and Spanish:
There are two categories of personnel at UNDP, Staff members and Non-Staff members. Please use the links below for more information on conditions of service for both categories:
An overview of the UN system (and UNDP's place in it) can be found here:
The Administrator of UNDP also chairs the United Nations Development Group (UNDG), through which the Resident Coordinator System is managed.
And here is our pick of the most relevant and useful documents that will help you understand the organizational context of your new job. These lists, one for UNDP and one for the UN, are by no means exhaustive, and if we missed something please let us know. We have organized the documents according to the order by which we suggest you become familiar with them. Remember, you can come back to YOUNDP at any time to review or refresh your memory:
